Abstract

Adolescence is a developmental phase characterized by identity exploration, the need for social recognition, and the drive to express personal experiences through various media, including visual media. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to enhance students' understanding of basic portrait photography techniques and encourage their ability to express their self-identity through visual narratives. The workshop was held on June 8, 2026, at the Photography Studio of Universitas Tarumanagara, in collaboration with lecturers and students from the Visual Communication Design (DKV) department, FSRD UNTAR. Students from SMA Tunas Muda attended. The method employed was a qualitative approach with a three-stage active mentoring model, encompassing camera technical introduction, expression-based visual concept exploration, and studio lighting practice. Program success was evaluated comparatively through process observation, reflective discussion, and assessment of participants' photographic work based on technical suitability and the depth of the visual message. The results indicate improved participants' practical skills in configuring manual camera parameters, managing studio lighting, and visually communicating emotions.
