Abstract

This study examines the socioeconomic characteristics of small-scale fishers and their influence on productivity in Badung Regency, Bali. Primary data were collected from 152 fishers using purposive sampling. Productivity was measured as catch value per kilogram (Rp/kg). The analysis used descriptive statistics, Pearson and Spearman correlations, ANOVA, and multiple linear regression. The results showed that the average age of fishers was 48.10 years, with 22.66 years of fishing experience, and that the majority had a high school or vocational high school education (46.05%). Average productivity reached Rp124,992/kg. Age and fishing experience had a significant positive effect on productivity, while operational costs and fishing time had a significant negative effect. ANOVA showed differences in productivity by fisher activity status. The OLS model produced an R² of 0.384, with operational costs and fishing time as significant predictors. In contrast, initial capital was not a significant predictor. These findings emphasize the importance of efficient production costs and optimizing fishing time to sustainably increase the productivity of small-scale fishers.
