http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1487

Debt remains a primary source of financing for economic development in developing countries. According to data, there was a sharp economic decline and a significant increase in debt levels among developing countries during the COVID-19 pandemic 2019. This indicates a tendency for governments to rely on debt during the recovery period. Theoretically, debt can have either positive or negative impacts on economic development. This implies that debt can serve as a growth engine or become a developmental burden. Amid this debate, this study aims to identify the impact of debt on economic growth in Southeast Asian developing countries (Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Cambodia) from 2009 to 2022. Using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method, we find that debt negatively impacts economic growth in both the short and long term. Additionally, another variable, inflation, also negatively affects economic growth in the long term. Therefore, governments must adopt prudent debt management principles and implement strategic policies to ensure that debt is allocated to finance productive sectors.
Rinny Apriliany Zakaria

A significant surge in the number of non-communicable disease cases also accompanies the rapid increase in the elderly population in Indonesia. Additionally, elderly individuals have a high risk of experiencing disabilities and losing independence due to non-communicable diseases. If left unaddressed, the dependency burden of the elderly will continue to rise, impacting the country's financial burden in funding healthcare issues. One way to address this issue is through policy interventions related to elderly healthcare services. This study aims to examine the government's efforts through its policies in implementing elderly healthcare services and to assess the adequacy of regulations, particularly in terms of elderly health education and information dissemination, curative efforts for the elderly, and the development of elderly healthcare service institutions. This research is designed as a documentation study, with data collection techniques using documentation. Data analysis is conducted through data reduction, content analysis, and conclusion drawing. The study concludes that regulations regarding elderly health education and information dissemination remain insufficient. Meanwhile, in terms of curative efforts for the elderly and the development of elderly healthcare institutions, the existing regulations are relatively adequate.
Faizah Khotimatul HusnaRezyana Budi Syahputri

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1647

The reasons for the demise of economic policy as a value-laden normative theory, within the Frisch-Tinbergen-Theil approach, and those for its reappraisal are very important for academic research. They are critically analyzed in this note which discusses some arguments made in the last Nicola Acocella’s fully-fledged book Rediscovering Economic Policy as a Discipline. He defends the status of Economic Policy as a proper normative discipline of Economics aimed to the foundation, coordination and reach of government action claiming that the two vital critiques to the effectiveness of macroeconomic policy actions, i.e. the Arrow’s Impossibility Theorem and the Lucas Critique, may be overcome by a theory of economic policy in a strategic setting. So doing, though, he cuts across several important issues like the formation of economic expectations, the aggegation problem, the Public Choice hypothesis of self-interested policy-making, the necessity of microfoundations of macroeconomics taken for granted, the basic characteristics of the positive method based on empirical observation and analytical consistency, overall the hypotheses on which the economic policy models are based. Well, Acocella’s strategic setting approach is interesting but the two vital critiques and the other problems remain.
Gian Cesare Romagnoli

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1454

This study examines the economic impact of fintech adaptation on sustainability performance in the Indonesian banking sector, with green finance and green innovation as mediating variables. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing secondary data from six Indonesian banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2019 to 2023. Path analysis was applied to evaluate to assess relationships among fintech adaptation, green finance, green innovation, and sustainability performance. The findings reveal that fintech adaptation significantly influences green finance but has a limited impact on green innovation and direct sustainability performance. Additionally, green finance and green innovation do not significantly mediate the relationship between fintech adaptation and sustainability performance. These results highlight the challenges of integrating fintech into sustainable banking initiatives in emerging markets. The study underscores the need for enhanced regulatory frameworks, strategic fintech adoption, and increased collaboration among financial institutions to drive sustainability efforts. Future research should explore additional factors influencing sustainability performance in banking.
Zahra Ardya RizwanaMeylia AdillahVidiyana AnggrayniTita RosaliaMuhammad Zidane AlfanditoEdi Purwanto

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1366

Poverty is an individual problem in society, where the poor quality of existing resources, minimum wages that do not meet the cost of living, and population growth continue to increase, affecting competitiveness and making it difficult to meet daily needs. The impact of the decline in the number of poor people is the essential growth factor in the selection of regional development strategies and tools, including efforts to address the decline in the number of poor people in Central Java. This study is quantitative, using annual secondary data from 2018-2023 sourced through the website of the Central Java Provincial Statistics Agency and the annual report of the Central Java Provincial BAZNAS. The analysis method used in this study is moderated regression analysis. The results of this study prove that the population variable has a positive insignificant effect on poverty, the minimum wage variable has a positive insignificant impact on poverty, and the human development index variable has a significant adverse effect on poverty. In contrast, the ZIS variable is unable to moderate the population against poverty, ZIS is unable to moderate the minimum wage against poverty, and ZIS is able to moderate the HDI against poverty.
Zalfa Nabila Putri BalqisBayu Nurhadi

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1501

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) tries to recover the tourism sector after the pandemic by speeding up the development of five super-priority tourism destinations, one of which is Likupang di North Sulawesi. The Governor set a target of 1 million foreign tourists from China. However, this cannot be achieved in one year. This study aims to simulate the effect of an increase in tourists from China on output, gross value added (GVA), and labor absorption in North Sulawesi. Besides that, this study also seeks to identify relationships among production sectors in North Sulawesi. This study employs input-output analysis with a 2016 input-output table. The study identifies four key sectors: energy and waste, transportation and warehousing, industry, and communications. The sector projected to experience the most significant increase in total output, GVA, and employment is the hotel and restaurant sector. Four other sectors are expected to show significant increases in output and GVA: trade, agriculture, transportation and warehousing, and other services. Meanwhile, the three sectors projected to experience the most significant increase in employment are trade, agriculture, and other services.
Sotya FevrieraRifki Ega Hanafi

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1639

Pujasera Embong Tengah is one of the culinary places that has not implemented the green economy concept because the problems faced are that business actors in Pujasera Embong Tengah feel that environmentally friendly packaging is very complicated, stock availability is still difficult, costs are more expensive, and do not understand how to design packaging, so the packaging used still uses plastic that is not environmentally friendly and less attractive. The purpose of this study is to design paper cups and paper bowls to support the concept of green economy. The method used in the study is descriptive qualitative with a field study approach with sampling using the purposive sampling method. Respondents in the study were sellers and consumers. The image was designed using the AutoCAD application. The results of the study showed that the design of paper cups and paper bowls was easy to communicate, creative, different from competitors, and acceptable to consumers. This study examines the use of paper cups and paper bowls to support the concept of green economy. The findings of this study can provide important information to help the economic resilience of business actors, as well as provide insight for further research development. This study hopes that Pujasera Embong Tengah can change its packaging from plastic to environmentally friendly packaging with an attractive design so that economic resilience is maintained.
Zenita Afifah Fitriyani

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1515

The development of regional economic potential plays a strategic role in supporting national growth, particularly through Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus (KEK). Southeast Sulawesi, as part of the Sulawesi Economic Corridor under Indonesia’s Masterplan for Acceleration and Expansion of Economic Development (MP3EI), has been designated as a "Center for the Production and Processing of Agricultural, Plantation, Fishery, and Nickel Mining Products". This study aims to evaluate the alignment between the KEK theme and Southeast Sulawesi’s regional economic potential using the Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), Shift-Share Analysis, and Klassen Typology methods. The results reveal two key sectors: the fishery subsector and the basic metal industry subsector. The fishery subsector is supported by abundant marine resources and high-export commodities such as frozen octopus, seaweed, and pelagic fish. Meanwhile, the basic metal industry is driven by the region’s vast nickel reserves, producing ferronickel and stainless steel for export. This study concludes that the KEK development aligns well with the region’s potential.
Faturrohman Muhammad Halik

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1550

This study examines the influence of tourism development and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on regional competitiveness across Indonesian provinces. Using cross-sectional data from all provinces in 2022, the research employs multiple regression analysis with comprehensive classical assumption testing to assess these relationships. Data was sourced from three national institutions: the Regional Competitiveness Index from BRIN, tourism development data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and ICT development data from Central Bureau of Statistics. The analysis reveals significant positive relationships between both predictors and regional competitiveness, with tourism development emerging as the stronger predictor. The findings demonstrate that provinces investing in tourism development and ICT infrastructure gain substantial competitive advantages. These results provide important implications for policymakers, suggesting that an integrated approach incorporating both tourism and ICT development initiatives might yield optimal results for enhancing regional competitiveness. The study contributes to the understanding of regional development dynamics in developing economies, particularly in the Indonesian context, offering valuable insights for policy formulation and strategic planning in regional development.
Aji Priambodo

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1691

Traditional markets are important in society's economy, especially for small traders. The increasing competition with modern retail and various economic challenges require traders to have the right strategies to improve their welfare. One of the factors that contributes to maintaining the stability and sustainability of traders' businesses is social capital, which includes social networks, trust, and norms that prevail in the trading environment. From an Islamic economic perspective, social capital can strengthen the principles of justice, transparency, and cooperation. Using an Islamic economic approach, this study examines how social capital contributes to improving the welfare of traders in Tugu Market, Bandar Lampung. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that social capital influences three main aspects: economic, social, and spiritual. From the economic side, cooperation and good relationships among traders are highlighted. In the social aspect, the culture of mutual assistance strengthens relationships and solidarity among traders. Finally, from the spiritual aspect, the application of Islamic economic principles in business is emphasised. Therefore, policies that support the revitalisation of markets are needed to optimise the sustainable improvement of traders' welfare.
Nia FitriaDiah Mukminatul HasimiAnas Malik

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1778

This research aims to forecast fluctuations in the price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil within the potential threat of World War III by utilizing the Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (GARCH) method. Using daily closing price data of WTI crude oil from January 2022 to March 2025, consisting of 850 observations, this study employs the ARIMA-GARCH model to capture the patterns and volatility of the time series data. Based on the conducted analysis, it is concluded that the ARIMA (2,1,2) and GARCH (1,1) models demonstrate optimal performance, with a MAPE value of 13.71%, indicating a good prediction accuracy level. The forecast for the next two years shows a trend of price increases starting from Q2 2025 through Q4 2027. This research demonstrates how geopolitical tensions, particularly the Russia-Ukraine war and Middle Eastern Conflicts, can affect global oil price volatility while highlighting the GARCH model’s effectiveness in capturing heteroskedasticity in highly fluctuating financial data.
Tri LestariPutri AndrianiDidik GunawanWilly Cahyadi

http://journal.nurscienceinstitute.id/index.php/jerps/article/view/1644

This study analyzes the factors that influence Indonesia’s exports to 10 destination countries, namely China, USA, Japan, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Rep. Korea, Vietnam, and the Netherlands, during 2018-2022 using a panel data regression model. The variables used are the number of workforce, digital economy, per capita income, and foreign investment as independent variables. At the same time, total exports are the dependent variable. The results of the analysis show that the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) is the best, where per capita income, foreign investment, and exchange rates do not have a significant effect on exports. This study found that the workforce and digital economy positively affect Indonesia’s exports. Countries with a skilled workforce and the application of digital technology encourage increased exports through increased productivity and operational efficiency. The existence of Indonesian economic policies that emphasize the development of workforce quality and the adoption of digital technology can provide insights that can be realized in activities. Implications provide insight into creating digital infrastructure from various parties that can collaborate to create a digital infrastructure for exports.
Moris FahrudinDidit Purnomo

This article examines the importance of effective communication in controlling inflation in Merauke Regency. Merauke, known for its geographical and economic challenges, requires a strong communication strategy to control inflation, which is often influenced by external and internal factors. Through a literature study of secondary data analysis, this article explores how effective communication between the government, the community, and the private sector can play a role in maintaining price stability and supporting sustainable economic development in an inflation control program. By adopting the right communication strategies, such as the use of mass media, direct socialization, and the involvement of community leaders, the government can increase public awareness and participation. Although there are challenges in communication infrastructure and varying literacy levels, increasing investment in infrastructure and community training can help overcome these challenges. The strategic recommendations provided in this study are hoped to help the government and other stakeholders design and implement effective communication strategies to control inflation in the Merauke Regency.
Ni Luh Putu Nita YuliantiIsmail IsmailSyahruddin Kadir
